About 150 passengers were injured in a collision between two suburban trains near the Spanish metropolis of Barcelona on Wednesday morning. Three people have been taken to hospital, civil protection reports on Twitter.
Most escaped with minor injuries. “I was on the train that was standing and someone else got on. There was panic, screaming and fear. These safety deficiencies are unacceptable,” said passenger Josep Jorge.
Many suffered bruises on their arms and legs
In the morning rush hour, the suburban trains are usually full and many people cannot find a seat. They are knocked over with a firm tug. Civil protection wrote that most of them suffered bruises on their arms and legs in the impact.
The cause of the accident, which took place at Montcada i Reixac station, was initially unknown. However, there is always criticism that too little is invested in the rail system. Trains are late or not at all and minor accidents always happen.
