Kremlin boss ignites – Putin rebuilds threats against nuclear powers

Date:

Russian President Vladimir Putin repeated his nuclear threats on Friday. Any country that dared to attack Russia with nuclear weapons would be “wiped off the face of the earth,” he declared, citing Russian hypersonic missiles. He was also “disappointed” in the former German chancellor.

Putin told the Jerusalem Post that Russia, unlike the United States, has no mandate for a preemptive nuclear first strike, but that Russia’s advanced hypersonic weapons would allow it to respond with full force in the event of an attack .

According to Russian propaganda, these missiles are very difficult to intercept and can also be armed with nuclear warheads.

To end the conflict in Ukraine, an “agreement” must first be reached. “Confidence is of course almost at zero (…), but eventually an agreement must be reached,” Putin said at the Eurasian Economic Union summit in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek on Friday.

Putin “disappointed” by Merkel
“I have said many times that we are ready and open to an agreement,” he added. Putin responded to comments made by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel about the Minsk Agreement, which was negotiated with Paris and Berlin in 2015 to end fighting between Russia and Ukraine in the Donbass.

Merkel told the weekly Die Zeit on Thursday that the 2014 deal was signed to “give Ukraine time” and that Kiev was using the time “to get stronger”. Putin said in Bishkek that he was “disappointed” by Merkel’s comments. He had “always assumed that the German government would act fairly,” he added.
