Many households and companies without electricity, long traffic jams on the Inntalautobahn – these were the consequences of an incident on Thursday afternoon on the A12 near Rietz in the Tyrolean Oberland. A power line was cut during construction work.
During work on the Inntalautobahn near the Innbrug in Telfs/Rietz, a high-voltage line was damaged around 2 p.m. A dump truck had scraped the line.
This caused a short circuit, in which a high-voltage line was broken and was thrown onto the roadway. Fortunately, the line did not hit a car. But the consequences were far-reaching.
One third of Telfer households without electricity
The highway had to be closed for more than an hour for the duration of the work on the power line. A traffic jam soon formed in the busy Easter travel traffic. In addition, a third of Telfer’s households and industrial companies were without electricity for about half an hour. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
