Vortex in Frankenburg – Two police operations for the large asylum quarter

Date:

First there was a fight between Syrian and Afghan refugees in Frankenburg (Upper Austria) in which people were injured. After the executive left, an illegal demonstration ensued.

The police had a lot to do on Saturday afternoon in the Allied Panels Park in Frankenburg. About 250 male refugees are housed in a former industrial hall on the site. In November, quarters of asylum seekers had also complained about the apparently very problematic sanitary and hygienic conditions in the building. Apparently there were only eight showers and toilets available in the main refugee quarters.

Supervisor raised the alarm
At around 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, a refugee counselor sounded the alarm. Afghans and Syrians are said to have attacked each other in front of the hall, involving 40 people. Eight radio patrol cars and a dog patrol arrived on the scene. During the ride, the supervisor reported to the police again and explained that the situation had calmed down somewhat. He asked the director to come anyway.

Three injured
The fighters were quickly separated on the spot. Two Afghans (23 and 29) and a Syrian (23) say they were injured, but cannot say who the perpetrators are. A suspected Syrian (19) was taken in for questioning and was not allowed to enter or approach. The reason for the dispute may have been that the Syrians apparently always made noise at night and the Afghans, out of revenge, did not let them sleep during the day.

Anger over deportation of Syrians
After the departure of the management, an illegal demonstration took place in front of the hall, at which some 30 migrants were present, some of whom also ran onto a country road in dark clothing. Nine police patrols were then ordered there. The reason for the protest was initially unclear. In the end, however, it turned out that compatriots were furious about the deportation of the Syrian. They were reassured by management.
