Construction from September 2023 – Finally green light for the extension of the S 10

Date:

Rainbach’s local manager, Günter Lorenz, can look forward to an early Easter gift. The Federal Administrative Court has dismissed complaints against the further construction of the S 10 from Freistadt to Rainbach (Upper Austria). Construction will start in September 2023, the opening to traffic will not take place in 2027 as originally planned, but in 2026.

There is nothing to criticize about the environmental friendliness of the extension of the S 10 from Freistadt to Rainbach im Mühlkreis (see picture). “The Federal Administrative Court rejected all objections. The EIA procedure has acquired legal validity. There is also no chance of further objections,” said Günter Lorenz, local boss of Rainbacher VP.

Four individuals – that would be the Rainbacher municipal councils of the FP and the citizens list – and the environmental ombudsman opposed further construction plans for the Mühlviertel highway. Their last hope is a conservation case. Lorenz also expects a positive decision in four to five weeks.

Construction will start in September 2023 and traffic will begin to flow in 2026 and not 2027 as originally planned. “Work on the support facilities has been moved all the way to the back and will not start until traffic is cleared,” Lorenz is fully satisfied. “The planning tender for the route from Rainbach to the Czech border will also start soon.”
