The Kerch Bridge, which connects the 2014-occupied Crimean peninsula to Russia, is apparently closed, according to a video shared on social media by a Ukrainian blogger. Occupiers in Crimea are currently unable to flee back to Russia.
The video by blogger Igor Sushko of the ThinkTank Wind of Change shows some cars waiting in front of the bridge. Apparently their further travel is denied. Ferries are also said to have stopped operating, as media in Crimea reported.
According to the portal krymr.com, Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of the Russian administration of the annexed peninsula, wrote on his Telegram channel: “Traffic on the Crimean bridge has been halted for technical reasons and will resume in the near future.” The ferry service would continue as usual.
On October 8, the Kerch Bridge, which connects Crimea directly to mainland Russia, was rocked by an explosion. A truck on the bridge blew up, sparking an inferno of flames, according to Russian investigators. It was not until the end of February that the structure was fully passable again after repair work.
