Kiev: “Do not grieve” – Captain of the Moskva with the sunken flagship

After the former pride of the Russian Navy sank in the Black Sea, it has now been revealed that the captain of the cruiser also suffered a dramatic fate. According to Ukrainian sources, Anton Kuprin Valerievich was killed in the explosion and ensuing fire on board the Moskva. It is also unlikely that the majority of the crew survived the incident alive.

According to Kiev, the cruiser was hit by two “Neptun” missiles – a Ukrainian development. Russia, on the other hand, said the ammunition on board had exploded. During the missile cruiser salvage operation, it lost its “balance” in heavy seas and eventually sank. A representative of the United States Department of Defense has since confirmed the Ukrainian version.

Adviser to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine: “We do not mourn”
Captain Velerievich is also said to have crashed with the cruiser. “Anton Kuprin, captain 1st rank, commander of the cruiser Moskva, died in an explosion and fire aboard the former flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet,” Anton Gerashenko, an adviser to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, told Telegram. The official added: “We are not mourning.”

The majority of the Moskva crew also dead?
It is still unclear what happened to the more than 500 crew members: the Russian Ministry of Defense had announced that the crew had been evacuated to other ships. But experts speculate that only a few dozen crew members survived.

Former Russian politician Ilya Ponomarev said he believed only 58 of the usual 510 souls on board could be saved, reported. The former member of the State Duma has been living in exile since 2016 and now fights alongside Ukrainian troops. In 2014, he was the only member of the Moscow parliament to vote against the annexation of Crimea.
