1980 Hunters – More and more women go hunting

Date:

“Women are hunting again!” Isabella Boitllehner says happily. She is one of the 1980s fighters in Upper Austria.

“I love animals, so I thought long and hard about doing hunting training,” reports Isabella Boitllehner van Garsten. “Because shooting at an animal is not an easy time.” The hunting license that she did receive does not change that. For her, the best thing about hunting is the harmony with nature: “I spend a lot of time in the hunting area. Game is premium food and I get to use it as a hunter.” When she has killed a piece, it gets – according to respectful custom – the “last bite”, a twig, in the carcass.

“We shoot well”
She recently spoke at the “Women’s Summit” of the Upper Austrian Hunting Association about the fact that the bon mot “men hunt, gather women” is not correct: “Women’s graves have had hunting accessories since the Stone Age. Until 150 years ago, women were treated equally like men when it came to hunting.” She thinks it is important that more and more women discover hunting as a vocation: “We shoot well, we are selective again and we are good for togetherness in the hunt.”

Boitllehner is a full-time economist and educator, she has a farm and horse breeding: “I offer social and leadership training with the four-legged friends.”
