A month after the deduction, the Russians fired rockets into the center of Kherson

Date:

According to Ukrainian sources, Russian troops fired rockets at the building of the regional administration in the central square of the city of Kherson. Two floors were damaged, said deputy head of the presidential bureau Kyrylo Tymoshenko. But no one was injured. Kherson had been liberated only a month earlier.

Tymoshenko posted photos to Telegram of debris next to the building and the collapsed ceiling of a corridor inside. Some windows appeared to be broken. A video circulating on social media showed a huge plume of smoke rising from the roof of the administration building.

Ukraine recaptured Kherson from Russian forces on November 11. This had led to days of celebrations in the square, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited days later to celebrate the end of the Russian occupation. Since the Russian troops left the city and retreated from the west bank of the Dnipro, they have been shelling Kherson from across the river.

“No Rest at the Front”
In his video address on Wednesday, Zelenskyy complained that Russia was out for destruction and reduced everything to rubble and ashes. “There is no peace at the front.” At the same time, the president reported that 64 Ukrainian officers and soldiers had been released from Russian captivity.

Meanwhile, according to authorities, the Ukrainian capital Kiev was attacked by Iranian drones from Russia on Wednesday. “According to preliminary data, all 13 drones were shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces,” President Zelensky said. “This week we made significant progress in antiaircraft defense,” Zelenskyy said in his video message.

Soon Patriot air defense system?
The 13 drones shot down in the morning meant “13 spared infrastructure objects, that saved lives,” the president said. Ukraine is constantly expanding its air defense. “And we are doing everything we can to get more modern and effective systems for Ukraine.” He gave no details. According to media reports, the US government is considering supplying the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.

No people were injured in the attacks. However, in the center of the three million metropolis, two administration buildings and four residential buildings were damaged by debris from shot down drones, and a private residential building and a car were damaged in the outskirts of Kiev. The air raid siren, which was activated in the early hours of the morning, was only lifted a few hours later.

Drones launched from Russia
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed several explosions on the Telegram news service on Wednesday morning without giving details. Ukrainian media reported Russian drone strikes on Kiev and the surrounding area. The Shahed-131 and -136 drones were said to have taken off from the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.

There were air raids in the capital, the surrounding area and in Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia. Artillery and rocket fire were also reported from the towns of Nikopol and Marhanets in the Dnepropetrovsk region of central Ukraine. Several buildings were damaged, Ukrinform reported, citing the local military administration.
