Galán conveys Urkullu Iberdrola’s commitment to economic development and employment in the Basque Country

Thanks to the company’s strategic plan, Iberdrola’s economic contribution to the Basque Country will reach €10 billion between 2022 and 2025, mainly in investments, purchases, salaries and tax revenue.

The President of Iberdrola, Ignacio Gallanhanded over to the lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, the “dedication” and “calling” of the power company with the economic development and the position in the Basque Country and its plans to make the company’s economic contribution in this community reach 10,000 million euros between 2022 and 2025, 15% more than the previous four-year period.

Galán met this Monday in Vitoria-Gasteiz with the Lehendakari and shared with him the numbers that prove this dedication and that place iberdrola as one of the Basque “engines of the economy”, as it more than contributes 2% of total GDP Basque.

As the company has stated in a note, Iberdrola’s activity in the Basque Country in 2022 generated a socio-economic impact of more than €2.7 billion30% higher than last year.

Also during this year, Iberdrola has made purchases and contracted services from 600 Basque suppliers for an estimated value of 1,700 million euros.

On the other hand, the fiscal impact of the economic activity carried out by the company last year exceeded 400 million euros and the investments reached the amount of 200 million euros.

Galán has been transferred to Urkulluthe Strategic Plan of the Basque company presented in London last November, involving investments of 47,000 million euros over the period 2023-2025 to promote the energy transition, employment and net zero emissions.

In particular, and thanks to this plan, Iberdrola’s financial contribution to Euskadi will reach 10 billion euro between 2022 and 2025 mainly in investments, purchases, salaries and tax revenue with an increase of 15% compared to the previous four-year period.
