Remarkable fire Tuesday morning in Hall in Tirol: A parked car started by itself due to a technical defect, drove away and eventually crashed into the wall of a building. The vehicle then caught fire.
Fortunately, that doesn’t happen every day. Shortly after 8 a.m., the parked car in Haller Pfannhausstraße started to light up, probably due to a defect in the battery.
“According to observations by a witness, the car then started on its own, drove off and finally crashed into the facade of the house. Within minutes, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames,” police said.
Concrete construction prevented worse
The fire was quickly brought under control, the fire service said. And further: “Fortunately, the object was a concrete building. So there was no risk of the fire quickly spreading to the building.”
Significant damage to the building
However, there was considerable damage to the facade of the house and the windows. No persons were injured. After about an hour the fire brigade was ready. In total there were 17 Florianis with three fire engines on site.
