Alarm in Innsbruck – apartment of Tyrolean family uninhabitable after fire

Dangerous scenes played out in an apartment building in Innsbruck on Friday afternoon: when a mother returned to the apartment with her children, she noticed that the kitchen was on fire. The family cannot return to the apartment for the time being, one person had to go to the hospital.

The fire on Fritz-Pregl-Strasse in Innsbruck broke out around 2:25 p.m. The family living in the part of the apartment building was not home at the time. It was only when the mother returned with her children that the police noticed smoke coming from the kitchen window and called 911, according to police.

The professional fire brigade and the FF Wilten moved in and were able to quickly contain the fire. The residents of the apartment were unharmed. However, as the clouds of smoke rose, an elderly resident on the floor above had to be taken to the clinic with suspected smoke poisoning. The home where the fire broke out was heavily damaged. The family is not allowed to return there for the time being. According to the police, the elderly neighbor’s apartment was initially locked overnight.

The cause of the fire is still being determined, but according to the management, it could be due to a technical defect in the refrigerator.
