The Basque government will again take half of the subsidy from the town halls and municipalities public transport next year, as it has been doing since September.

Local operators therefore only have to cover 10% of the discounts, as the other 10% is taken over by the Basque executive.

The extension of this measure was announced this Wednesday by the Minister of Territorial Planning, Housing and Transport of the Basque Government, Inaki Arriolaat the meeting held by the Euskadi Transport Authority.

This support is in addition to the support announced yesterday by the government of Spain that will maintain the system of 30% direct support for communities that agree to implement a 50% reduction in the price of transit passes.

This is one of the anti-crisis measures announced by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Tuesday. In total, the central executive will allocate 380 million euros for the reduction of this 30% in the price of public transport, depending on the autonomys and local entities.

The Basque government, as it has done this year, bears 10% of the costsa measure that he believes will mean a payout of around 12 million euros for the first half of the year.
