“Spontaneous Entry” – WEGA unit storms villa: Suspect in custody

Date:

A spontaneous police action on Wednesday afternoon excited some passers-by in Vienna-Hietzing: a WEGA troop stormed a residential building and came out moments later with a suspect in handcuffs…

The deployment of the Viennese alerting task force – WEGA for short – went quickly and smoothly, while access was actually only scheduled for Thursday. But, as police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger told krone.at, the situation would now require spontaneous, swift action.

The officers, supported by several patrol cars, approached Hetzendorfer Strasse and gathered around the building. Shortly afterwards, a team stormed the villa. According to the police, a suspect has been arrested and is wanted for a violent crime. The man was removed from the building a short time later and taken away.

No one was injured during the operation.
