The police in Vienna-Floridsdorf were able to seize several hundred illegal firecrackers and rockets during a large-scale inspection at the train station on Tuesday.
A total of 630 pieces of illegal fireworks – mainly firecrackers – were seized. In addition, ten different weapons were seized, such as knives, brass knuckles, electric shock devices and airsoft guns. One person was arrested and taken to the detention center. 34 reports have been made.
Another case in Ottakring
Police also found what they were looking for in Vienna’s Ottakring district regarding the illegal sale of fireworks. There, a total of 1007 packages of illegal fireworks without a permit were offered for sale in a shop. The whole find was also secured.
“Igniting common objects (from category F2: flash fireworks, Swiss fireworks, all rockets, fireworks, jumping wheels and others) is expressly prohibited in the area. In addition, there are various absolute bans on use in the vicinity of petrol stations, churches, hospitals,” the Viennese police said in a broadcast.
