It’s been seven years since Silas was no taller than Daddy’s palm. His twin sister Annabelle was battling cardiac arrhythmias – both had to be artificially ventilated. The story of the “two-year-old twins” went around the world. Thanks to her parents, Erika and Günther Eckhard, who originally came from Austria and now live in Denmark, we were able to accompany her and witness her indescribable development up close.
But slow down: what makes the adorable duo so special isn’t just the fact that they fight their way back to life, but also their very special date of birth. As reported, they are twins born in different years. Two minutes separate the – today united – little ones: Silas was born on December 31 at 11:59 pm, Annabelle followed him the following year – at 0:01 am 2016! At home they now speak three languages fluently: English, Danish and German. They now compensate for the Corona period, in which they could rarely visit friends, with “Play Dates”.
