Several people have been killed in an explosion outside a military airport in Kabul, Afghanistan. “This morning there was an explosion outside Kabul’s military airport, killing and injuring several of our citizens,” Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Nafi Takor told Reuters on Sunday. Details are not yet known, investigation has started.
The military airport in Kabul is close to the civilian airport and the Ministry of Interior. According to local sources, all access roads to the site of the attack have been closed by Taliban security forces.

Initially, no one claimed responsibility for the attack. Since the Taliban came to power, IS has stepped up its attacks in Afghanistan. The focus is mainly on religious minorities and foreign embassies. Both IS and the Taliban belong to Sunni Islam. However, both are at odds with each other.
