Another fatal skiing accident occurred on the slopes of Tyrol. On New Year’s Day, a 27-year-old Dutch skier fell to his death on the Hintertux Glacier.
The young woman was on the valley run around 10:15 a.m. In the area of the so-called “Black Pan” she fell without outside influence and – despite the presence of a safety fence – went over the edge of the runway. This caused the woman to fall about 20 meters and about ten meters high. Unfortunately, all help for the Dutch woman came too late and the police helicopter of Libelle Tirol eventually flew the body into the valley. According to the Alpine police, the red slope was icy and hard.
Also two seriously injured
Within half an hour there were two more accidents in the area. Another Dutch and a German skier fell – one after the other – without outside influence and therefore also over the edge of the slope. Both women suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital.
Third fatal accident within days
This was the fourth death on the local ski slopes within days. On Christmas Day, a twelve-year-old girl had an accident in the Zillertal. Two days later, two teenagers (both 17 years old) fell off the ski slope and suffered fatal injuries.
