The pink powder, also known as pink cocaine, has now reached Austria. Authorities urgently warn against this substance.
With the exception of the powder form, this “new” drug has very little to do with real cocaine – even though it was originally an ingredient, gangs usually use “only” the narcotics ketamine and ecstasy for the hallucinogenic synthetic mix. The poisonous color is the most harmless – it is caused by food coloring.
Seized at festivals in Austria
Until recently, authorities in South America, especially in Colombia, had to contend with the life-threatening poison. However, the pink wave of drugs has now reached Europe, warns the UN anti-drug agency. And this mostly via Spain. Researchers have also secured the pink powder at festivals in Austria in 2022.
