Bizkaibus de Busturia and Lea Artibai workers start new strikes in January and February 2023

Date:

BLB workers claim to renew the agreement and pay raises in line with the CPI. They will carry out 31 strikes. They ask the Provincial Council, “as responsible for the Bizkaibus service”, to mediate in the conflict.

The workers of the Bizkaibus de Busturia Lea Artibai Bus (BLB) begin this Saturday, coinciding with the start of the cuts, the 31 days of strikes they have called for in the first quarter of 2023 to demand the renewal of the agreement and salary increases “in accordance with the CPI”.

As reported by UGT, on this Saturday, the Interruptions will take place from 10:15 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. and from 6:15 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. hours on the lines of the concessionaire BLB connecting Bilbao with Bermeo, Lekeitio, Ondarroa, Gernika, Munguia, Ermua, UPV-EHU and Galdakao Hospital.

The chairman of the works council, Óscar López, explained that after three months of strikes, the company has called union leaders to a meeting to negotiate the agreement for Wednesday, which he sees as “good news”.

As he explained, the committee will go “with expectations of a resolution” because otherwise “everything indicates that we are on track to expand the conflict over time with the impact it will have on the citizens of the lines forming the BLB company”.

After this Saturday’s mobilization, the Bizkaibus workers in Busturia and Lea Artibai have declared strikes on December 10, 13, 16, 19, 20, 24, 27 and 31. On the two days of the 24-hour strike, February 6 and March 16, they hold a demonstration in Bilbao and gather in front of the Foral Palace. Each month there will be at least two concentrations at the company’s office, in Aparcavisa.

The representatives of the UGT have claimed the Provincial Council of Bizkaia“as the person in charge of the Bizkaibus service”, to mediate to conduct negotiations “in good faith” and to agree on salary increases around the CPI so that “there is no discrimination between the employees of the different service concessionaires” of buses in Bizkaia.
