A devastating road accident in Senegal killed 38 people on Sunday night. The collision between two buses near the town of Kaffrine in the center of the West African country also injured 87, a fire official said.
According to him, the accident happened on the national road N1 at 03:15 (local time, 04:15 CET). The injured have been taken to Kaffrine Hospital. The rubble and the destroyed buses have now been cleared and traffic has resumed, the spokesman said.
Road accidents are quite common in Senegal. According to experts, this is mainly due to bad roads and dilapidated vehicles. Sunday’s accident is one of the deadliest in recent years.
