Scottish Prime Minister Humza Yousaf is concerned about his in-laws who are stuck in the Gaza Strip. Yousaf also criticizes the Israeli government’s crackdown on civilians in the war zone.
The Scottish National Party politician, who has Pakistani roots, describes the Israeli army’s evacuation call as a “collective punishment” that the international community must “take action against.”
Mother-in-law in tears: “Where is humanity?”
Yousaf uploaded a video of his mother-in-law from the city of Deir Al-Balah to X (formerly Twitter). “Everyone from Gaza is moving to where we are,” Elizabeth El-Nakla says in the video. “A million people, no food, no water – and yet they are bombed when they leave.” El-Nakla emphasizes: “Where is humanity? Where are the hearts of the people in the world who allow this to happen today? May God help us, see you soon.”
British warships are sent to the region
The British Defense Minister, on the other hand, expresses his support for the Israeli actions. The Israeli warning to the civilian population is in stark contrast to the Islamist Hamas terrorist attack on southern Israel, Shapps told Sky News on Friday. “They are pursuing these terrorists and we fully respect Israel’s right to do so.” As previously reported, the government in London has deployed Royal Navy ships to the eastern Mediterranean and is also supporting Israel with reconnaissance flights. An American aircraft carrier is already present.
