“I have always based my actions on ethics and legality. I believe in Brazilian justice and in the strength of the institutions. I am sure that the truth will prevail,” Torres assured.
The magistrate, for his part, has ruled that the actions of Torres and the former commander-in-chief of the Marechaussee “extremely serious”as they can endanger the lives of the president, ministers and parliamentarians.
Moraes has indicated that “absolutely nothing justifies the omission and conspiracy” of Torres and Vieira in the attack on public institutions in the past January 8. Likewise, he has assured that the position of both is “appalling” because the occurrence of violent events was predictable.
