But the police did not come – Wiener (82) wanted to confront telephone scammers

Date:

Viennese pensioner Gerhard B. (82) was rudely called by fake police officers on Monday. The senior recognized the attempted fraud and wanted to hand over the fraudster to the real officials. To this day he is still annoyed that the Viennese police supposedly did not take him seriously. Of course you see things differently there.

Completely upset, Gerhard B. reported to the “Krone” on Monday evening. A gentleman, who appears to be German, called the Simmeringer’s landline. According to the German, he was a police officer. And he calls because Gerhard B.’s son, Wolfgang, has caused a serious traffic accident. It was said that a pregnant woman had died. His son’s supposed girlfriend was also crying in the background, ready for the movie.

“I Unwrapped My Best Acting”
Since Mr. B. does not even have a son, the Viennese senior knew immediately that he was dealing with scammers. “I unpacked my best acting,” the 82-year-old tells the “Krone”. “No, no, no, my boy,” he yelled into the phone to trick the crook into thinking he’d found a perfect victim. He promised to collect all his jewelry, valuables and cash and hand them over to another agent at the front door.

Have the police rejected pensioners?
But he also called the real police on the side. According to B., when he called the emergency services, he was told to lock the door because it was too dangerous to send officers there. When he tried at the next office, he would have been rejected here as well. According to B. he should come by to file a report. Now the pensioner is angry about the passivity: “They take the climate stickers off the street every day, but they are not there for an elderly person.”

The police see no wrongdoing
When asked about the Viennese executive, this is of course seen very differently. According to police spokeswoman Barbara Gass, Mr. B. stated to his colleagues that he had already ended the telephone conversation with the fraudster and had not made an appointment for a transfer. He was then given instructions on how to behave and asked to come to the inspection. Gerhard B. is still angry: “If they had come, they could have arrested the swindler.”
