“Honey, where are you?” The wife of a motorist who had fled from the scene of the accident in Traun led police to the person they were looking for. As suspected, he was dead drunk.
Around midnight there was a crash on Leondinger Strasse in Traun. A car had rammed into a parked car and the polluter’s car had flipped onto its side. The driver had apparently sought refuge by fleeing and got out via the sliding roof.
Police used the car’s license plate number to trace the owner, who said her husband was driving it. She called him on his cell phone and asked where he was. “At the gas station,” he replied – not saying a word about the crash.
The police came to the gas station and did an alcohol test: 1.6 per thousand. The officers immediately confiscated the car key and driver’s license. Now there is a hefty fine. It is not known how the woman reacted at home.
