Dramatic scenes in an apartment in Vienna’s Brigittenau district on Saturday night: During a dispute between acquaintances, the 69-year-old host suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed his counterpart, a 38-year-old young father, several times – apparently in front of his 36 year-old friend who had the six-month-old baby with him. The victim is in mortal danger.
What the dispute between the two men was about and why it eventually escalated is the subject of a police investigation. The alleged attacker was in any case heavily under the influence of alcohol when he stabbed with the kitchen knife – he had 2.1 promille alcohol in his blood.
The act happened shortly before midnight, the 38-year-old young father suffered several stab wounds in the neck and chest, according to the police. He was taken to hospital after first aid. The suspect made a full confession.
