The CAV has the highest absenteeism rate in the state, according to the Adecco Group Institute

The Adecco Group Study and Dissemination Center has published the data covering July, August and September 2022. It also indicates that the number of accidents has decreased by 21% compared to the same period in 2021.

Adecco Group Institute has the quarterly report on absenteeism and accidents at work referring to the third quarter of 2022, according to which the CAV has the highest absenteeism of the state, 9.8%. Navarra follows with 8.3%. In both cases there is an increase of just over 1 percentage point in the year-on-year figures.

However, the director of the study center Javier Blasco contextualized the data, explaining that absenteeism “in this third quarter is mainly due to the significant reduction in effectively agreed hours due to the summer holidays”.

The data from absenteeism due to temporary incapacity for work it was slightly lower than the three summer months. The rate was 7.4% in the BAC, 1.2% higher than the previous year, and is also the highest in the state.

If we break down the data by sector, it should be noted that the sector most affected by absenteeism is industry, both in the Basque Country and in Navarre. This is followed by the construction and service sectors.

Fewer accidents at work

The report published by The Adecco Group’s Study and Dissemination Center explains that the occupational accident rate it decreased by 21% in Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia and Araba in the same period, third quarter of 2022, compared to the same period of 2021.

For example, the incidence of accidents during the workday is 214 per 100,000 residents, the third lowest in the state, where the incidence is 234. In Navarre, the rate is higher than the state average and stands at 291 per 100,000 inhabitants.

By sector, construction is hardest hit, followed by industry and agriculture, while the services sector is the least affected.

Finally, attention to the incidence of commuting accidents in the BAG this is 25 road casualties per 100,000 inhabitants.
