Case Teichtmeister – Burgtheater wants to sue for “enormous damage”.

Date:

The Teichtmeister case may also have financial consequences. The damage to the Burgtheater was “enormous,” explains Robert Beutler, the house’s commercial director. He will “charge”. It is unclear what damage Marie Kreutzer’s film “Corsage” has to reckon with. However, another actor who starred in the film denied sexual harassment allegations against him.

Beutler justified the planned lawsuit against the “Kurier” “solely because of the director’s liability”. The Burgtheater recently canceled the production of Daniel Kehlmann’s “Next Door”, in which Teichtmeister played a leading role. On the other hand, who will play John Worthing instead of Teichtmeister in the Oscar Wilde adaptation “Bunbury” on January 31 has not yet been announced by the House.

Film “Corsage” should continue to come to international cinemas
The image of “Corsage”, which was recently nominated as Best Foreign Language Film at the English BAFTA Awards and continues to be Austria’s Oscar nominee, has been damaged by the Teichtmeister case. The responsible world distributor mK2 told the industry portal “Screen Daily” that there was no sign of the film being pulled from cinemas internationally. However, should the production company Film AG withdraw the film, there would be a “rat tail of recourse claims”, the size of which according to “Kurier” is estimated by insiders at “several million”. A spokesman for Film AG declined to comment on the matter.

However, director Marie Kreutzer can be seen on ORF III on Sunday (January 22) from 7:20 PM. The filmmaker will participate in a discussion entitled “The Teichtmeister Case – The Innocent Face of a Cultural Nation” with “Falter” editor-in-chief Florian Klenk and actress Petra Morzé, among others.

‘Corsage’ actor rejects ‘insubstantial’ allegations
The other unnamed “Corsage” actor, who has been the subject of sexual harassment allegations, has now been made public through his lawyer, Margot Rest. He insists not to be named and denies the allegations. These turned out to be “insubstantial”, the media quoted a corresponding letter. If, contrary to his own perception of anyone, he “verbally offended anyone at any time”, he would “deeply regret it and immediately apologize in all forms”.

After accusations came in through social media, he filed a credit damage lawsuit in 2021, which has since been settled, agreeing “voluntarily to undertake awareness training on his own initiative.” If there are concrete allegations, the actor will be “available for clarification with his full cooperation.”
