Shortly after 7 p.m., the Serb (21) was targeted by the patrol in eastern Innsbruck after driving his car almost collided with oncoming traffic when turning off Amraser Seestraße towards Grenzstraße. The driver simply ignored the following signs. What followed was a wild chase!

Terminus in the area of ​​barracks
The suspect raced on the Inntalautobahn to the Kranebitten exit and then fled further on the B171 Tiroler Straße in the direction of Zirl. About 100 meters after the Standschützen barracks, the fugitive was finally stopped by several police patrols. The driver and his passenger (18) have been provisionally arrested.

During the on-site investigation, it was found that two different number plates were mounted on the car. “In addition, a drug test performed on the driver gave a positive result,” the detectives said. The 21-year-old’s driver’s license was confiscated on the spot.

Police car and car damaged
When the car had to stop, a police car and an uninvolved car were damaged. The 57-year-old passenger in the car sustained minor injuries. During the operation, the B171 in this area had to be completely closed for an hour. Appropriate notifications will be made upon completion of the investigation.
