The new tolls for the transport of goods on the N-240 (Barazar) and BI-625 (between Basauri and Llodio) highways will come into effect on January 25, as announced by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia on Monday.

The institution entry into force has been delayed by several weeks of the usage fee for heavy transport on said highways, which should have started on January 1, so that carriers can become familiar with the new system.

On the road N-240 (Barazar) the 9 free flow arches placed between the intersection of El Gallo (pk 55) and Ubidea (pk 23) are activated, with rates ranging from 0.32 euros to 8.93 euros.

On the road BI-625 8 Free Flow arcs will be activated from Llodio (pk 372,560) to Basauri (pk 387,310), with rates from 0.23 euros to 1.13 euros.

In both cases it was decided to set a lower rate than the maximum allowed by Europe and that was accompanied by discountsboth to frequency of to use as with most vehicles efficient.

According to the Diputación, these usage and efficiency discounts are going to assume an estimated economic impact of 5.6 million euros annual savings for the transport sector and 633 applications from companies and individuals have already been approved to benefit from this, while around a hundred applications are still pending.
