labor unions ELA, CCOO, LAB, USE, ESK and CGT They have called on Álava’s nearly 25,000 metal workers to support the strike days they have declared on May 18, 24 and 26 to come to an agreement.
Representatives of these six power stations registered this Wednesday in the Basque government delegation of labor in Vitoria-Gasteiz the call for these strikes and concentrated behind a banner with the text “Arabako metala borrokan. For a worthy agreement”
Spokespersons for these unions have read a manifesto asking workers in the sector to support the three-day strike, shut down production and take to the streets to participate in the mobilizations they cite, “all to improve working conditions.” to attain those who are worthy”.
SEA, “immobile”
They explained that the purpose of these three days of strike is to force the SEA employers to leave their position “giving up any excuse and providing clear answers to the problems the sector faces”.
The unions today recalled their proposal for wage increases above the CPI, with a minimum wage of 1,400 euros in 14 payments, a “significant” reduction in the working day, subrogation for subcontractors, improvements in permits and guarantee of application of the agreement , allowing a unilateral non-application thereof is prevented.
“Maximum” positions of the unions
At the last negotiating meeting, on April 12, SEA rejected what it considered to be the “maximalist” views of the unions who had submitted an “irrational” proposal, asking for a cumulative pay raise of 14%, a 100% corporate subrogation clause, much heavier than the existing ones in Bizkaia and all this in exchange for working 24 hours less per year.
At that meeting, the employers proposed a salary update of 4.6% and an additional 5% increase in the years 2022-2024 with a guarantee clause for the difference that could occur between the increases applied and the evolution of inflation.
Employers and unions have planned next meeting 5th of May within the Labor Relations Council to try to make progress in negotiating an agreement.
