A 67-year-old resident in Längenfeld (Tyrol) was startled from her sleep on Friday evening by a sudden heavy smoke development. Her living room was on fire! The woman had to be taken to hospital. The building is no longer habitable.
The fire broke out around 10:45 p.m. The 67-year-old had already gone to sleep by then, but the heavy smoke startled her again. “The living room, which was paneled with wooden planks, was already on fire at that time,” the police said.
Quick intervention by the fire service prevented the flames from spreading to the rest of the house. However, the fire and smoke caused significant damage to the home.
Woman placed with sister
The owner had to be taken to Zams Hospital on suspicion of smoke inhalation. During the investigation, it turned out that a technical defect in an older flat-screen TV may have caused the fire. The residential building was severely damaged by the fire and smoke and is currently uninhabitable. “The 67-year-old woman was temporarily placed with her sister,” officials said.
