Three people were injured in a knife attack in the heart of the EU quarter in Brussels. One victim suffered serious injuries, two people were slightly injured, police said. A suspect has been arrested in Monday night’s incident.
In the Schuman metro station, a DPA reporter saw how a young man in a black and white T-shirt was stopped by the police. A few minutes earlier, according to a dpa reporter, passersby had shouted, “He’s got a knife.”
Mayor Philippe Close of Brussels wrote in the evening on Twitter: Good police cooperation led to a quick arrest.
During the arrest, several police officers with dogs were also present at the Schuman stop to protect the area. Schuman station is located right between important EU institutions and is used by many EU workers.
