Spectacular traffic accident Tuesday evening in the Tyrolean Unterland: An 80-year-old driver collided with a road railing in Alpbachtal, after which the car overturned and came to a stop on its side. The injured pensioner had to be pulled from the wreckage by the fire service.
The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. in Reith im Alpbachtal: The 80-year-old came from Landesstraße (L5) to the Bischofsbrunn/Mayrhof intersection for unknown reasons and, according to the police, collided with a metal road railing. The vehicle overturned as a result of the impact – it remained on the driver’s side.
The pensioner was unable to free himself from the car. She had to be removed from the wreckage by the alarmed fire brigade. After first aid at the scene of the accident, the woman was transported by ambulance to the Kreisziekenhuis Kufstein.
Total lockdown of half an hour
There was massive damage to the car. The L5 near the accident site had to be closed to all traffic for about 30 minutes.
