Where is Waltraud S.? This question has occupied the residents of Stainz (Styria) since January 15. That was the last time the 60-year-old woman was seen in a bar on the main square.
On Tuesday, a voluntary search party from the Klagenfurt task force K-9 combed the forests around Schilcherort in western Styria. But even eight sniffer dogs could not clarify the fate of the missing persons. Andrea Schweinzer, who had been Waltraud S.’s neighbor for 18 years, was there again. With family members she walks the paths that Waltraud S. liked to walk, talks to residents and provides the helpers with soup. Moral courage rarely found these days.
“The worst part is the uncertainty”
“I owe it to my girlfriend,” says the desperate pensioner, who does not rule out a criminal case or an accident: “Maybe someone kidnapped her or she fell into a pond. The worst thing for me is the uncertainty.”
How things will continue – after many days of searching in vain – is open. The dog task force discusses the established routes, monitors further actions. “Until then my son, friends of mine and I will keep looking. Because hope dies last!”
