It was the largest forest fire in Austrian history. Flashback: On October 25, 2021, a barrage of fire consumed the mountain from a popular vantage point in Hirschwang an der Rax in Lower Austria. 9000 emergency services went to extremes, 14 were injured. In the end, 115 hectares of forest, which is more than 1.1 million square meters or about 115 football fields, were destroyed. Damage: 30 million euros. The forest there will only recover in 20 years.
