An 88-year-old woman was struck by severe mold in her apartment in Vienna-Donaustadt. However, Wiener Wohnen does not plan to become active until the end of March.
About four weeks ago, Ilse Trotska discovered a damp spot in her kitchen, which got bigger and bigger and eventually developed black mould. The daughter of the 88-year-old tenant immediately informed Wiener Wohnen about the incident. The hotline told her that the earliest possible date for inspection(!) of the water damage was March 24.
“Because the mold has gotten worse in recent days, I tried again to get an earlier appointment, but it was only postponed at the end of March. Does my mother really have to stay in a moldy flat for three months?” says Bettina Pfneiszl.
The 88-year-old had to lend a hand herself
Mother and daughter tried to remove at least the biggest mold stains themselves, but Wiener Wohnen couldn’t even tell her whether the water damage in the apartment above had been repaired at all. The 50-year-old was advised to knock on the door of the neighbors and ask. However, this attempt failed because no one had opened the door for her.
Van Wiener Wohnen states: “Unfortunately, an error occurred when assigning appointments. In addition, it was determined that a corner tap in the apartment above was defective and was leaking water as a result. A technical employee will now make an appointment with the tenant to repair the damage as soon as possible. as quickly as possible and carry out the necessary repair and repair work – without incurring any costs for you.”
Waiting a long time for an appointment is probably not an isolated case
However, this misunderstanding is not very credible, since the “Krone” has at least one other case of mold infestation in a municipal apartment, where an inspection of the damage takes place only at the end of March.
