Spain has sent projectiles, machine guns, rifles, vehicles, ammunition and pistols to Ukraine

A C-90 grenade launcher manufactured by Instalaza (Zaragoza) is the only Spanish weapon captured by Russian forces in Ukraine and appears on the trophy exhibition of the Russian Ministry of Defense. This launch tube appears among many other similar systems from different countries. To distinguish them, they carry the flag of the respective country, in the case of the C-90 the Spanish one. It also indicates the name of the weapon and the statement that it was captured in the Ukrainian region of Zaporizhzhya, probably in the first days of March. Just when the Russian army took control of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. In the bloody battle of Mariúpol there were also Spanish weapons.

Designed for shoulder operations, the C-90 RPG fires a 90mm grenade propelled by a small rocket. It is light (it weighs just over five kilograms), versatile, disposable and is made in two versions, one anti-tank and the other anti-bunker. As soon as the C-90s were delivered to Ukraine, a Ukrainian defender from Mariupol appeared on social media, showing him in his hands and assuring that he would give a good report of the weapon to attack the besiegers of the Azovstal steel plant . The grenade launcher can carry an infrared sight for night operations.

Spain has also supplied Ukraine with 100-millimeter Alcotán systems and Mistral Stinger-type surface-to-air missiles, along with countries such as Germany, the United States, Finland, the Netherlands, Italy and Norway. Spain has sent Ukraine ammunition for its C-90 and Alcotán launchers, totaling 1,370 projectiles, according to data from Spain’s Defense Ministry.

Madrid also sent Ameli machine guns, rifles, pistols, 30 trucks, 10 vehicles and 200 tons of ammunition to Ukraine. The Spanish military aid package departed from Los Llanos Air Force Base (Albacete) and boarded the ship Isabel bound for Poland, from where it was later distributed.

Spain had also initially agreed to send German-made Leopard tanks to Ukraine, but had to give up because, according to Defense Minister Margarita Robles, the poor condition of the armored vehicles discouraged their use by the Ukrainian military. “They are in an absolutely unfortunate situation and can pose a risk.” Robles warned recently.
