Through his efforts, a Romanian worker tried to prevent damage to transformers weighing several tons – but the 32-year-old was seriously injured at a company in Leoben (Styria).
The serious industrial accident happened today around 11 a.m. on the site of a large company in Leoben-Hinterberg. A transformer installation, with an immense dead weight of four tons, had been hoisted in advance so that it could be transported one behind the other. The subsequent victim of the accident had to manually stabilize this system.
However, the heavy transformer started to vibrate. The 32-year-old intervened and tried to avoid the impact of the transformer with another one. He caught his arm between them – and was seriously injured. The Romanian citizen was immediately taken to hospital.
