After sabotage report – Moscow calls for international pipeline investigation

Date:

According to well-known American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, the US and Norway are responsible for the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines last fall. While the administration of US President Joe Biden speaks of a “perfect invention”, Russia is again calling for an international investigation into what is happening in the Baltic Sea, including Russian researchers. The journalist’s blog post should become the basis for investigation, Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of Russia’s State Duma, said Thursday.

“US President Joe Biden and his accomplices must be held accountable,” Volodin said. On his Telegram channel, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin’s party friend went even further: “Biden is writing himself down in history as a terrorist.” Nagasaki Biden has become a terrorist who has ordered the destruction of the energy infrastructure of his strategic partners Germany, France and the Netherlands,” said the speaker of the Russian parliament. By the way, Volodin had previously justified Russia’s bombing of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as part of Russia’s war of aggression.

Russia had already shut down Nord Stream 1 at the time of the explosions due to alleged technical problems. According to Moscow, the Nord Stream 2 line, which is still operational despite the damage, has not yet received approval from the German authorities. According to the investigations, the explosions were caused by sabotage. To date, there is no clear evidence of authorship.

Washington rejects article
The US presidential office on Wednesday rejected a blog post that US Navy divers planted the explosives on the pipelines in the Baltic Sea during a June NATO exercise on Biden’s orders and later detonated them with Norway’s help. The source situation for Nord Stream is uncertain, the US and Norway sharply rejected the report. “This is completely untrue and pure fiction,” said a spokeswoman for the Security Council at the White House.

The 85-year-old reporter, who rose to prominence decades ago when US troops exposed a massacre in Vietnam, recently attracted attention for his questionable investigation. Much of the Nord Stream report appears to be based on just one anonymous source. Renowned American media initially did not respond to the message. Norway, which was allegedly involved in the action, also sharply rejected the report.
