A doctor known among corona skeptics was not legally acquitted on Thursday in the Salzburg District Court of charges of fraud and taking office. The doctor vehemently protested his innocence.
“He did not want to present himself as a medical officer and no intention for enrichment could be established,” spokesman Franz Mittermayr said of the outcome of the procedure. According to the indictment, the doctor would have made announcements that he could not vaccinate. The process involved only two decisions.
The reports were allegedly released over the Internet without the patients having been conscientiously examined by a doctor beforehand. The doctor argued that the certificates would have had medical value.
Made false claims
The Medical Association saw the doctor’s actions as a violation of the Doctors Act and reported this to the Public Prosecution Service. At a press conference around the end of 2021, the doctor spoke of the “biggest medical scandal of all time” and made the repeatedly refuted false claim that intensive care units were largely vaccinated.
The Medical University of Vienna, where the doctor had an employment contract, then ended it after he allegedly violated internal corona rules several times and did not follow official instructions. Dozens of opponents came to the court for the criminal case.
