The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda has submitted for public consultation the privatization project for seven new air traffic control towers, including the one in Bilbao, in addition to the twelve already operating under this regime.
The ministry has given the agents involved a period of 20 days to raise allegations and comments about the text.
As confirmed by ministry sources on Wednesday, the process is being opened at the request of the airport manager, Aena, who understands that allowing private initiative to improve the sector’s competitiveness and reduce prices.
The CCOO and USCA unions called a five-day strike early this month for Mondays in February due to the failure of collective bargaining negotiations in the already privatized towers with the APCTA employers, formed by the companies FerroNATS and Saerco.
