A serious accident took place on the Inntalautobahn near Langkampfen in Tyrol on Thursday afternoon. A German couple crashed their car off the highway into a ditch. It is still unclear how this could have happened.
Around 2 p.m. the Germans (45 and 25) moved towards Innsbruck. The man (45) was behind the wheel. According to the police, it is not yet clear why he left the roadway during a long fight. However, the consequences were dramatic. The Germans’ vehicle fell over a steep embankment and landed in the undergrowth.
Helpers had to come with chainsaws
The occupants were able to free themselves from the heavily damaged car and alerted the emergency service. The driver and passenger were seriously injured in the accident and had to be transported to Kufstein Hospital. Employees of the highway company Asfinag had to cut the vehicle out of the undergrowth with chainsaws. The Kufstein fire brigade was also present.
