The Ukrainian army has denounced that Russia has launched the largest missile strike against Ukraine since the Russian invasion began last morning. Ukrainian sources say they hit many regions of the country, including Zaporizhia and Kharkov, and some cities such as Kiev, Odessa and Lviv.
Russian forces “fired a record number of ‘S-300’ missiles into Ukraine last night, including up to 35 in the Zaporizhia (southeast) and Kharkiv (northeast) regions. This was likely a record strike,” the spokesman said. the Ukrainian Air Force, Yurii Ihnat, according to the agency Ukrinform.
The military representative has confirmed that the Russians are “using these weapons to terrorize” and that Russia is launching them further and further away and “in densely populated cities”.
He added that Ukraine has every right to retaliate and destroy the launchers for these missiles wherever they are. “Our fighter jets attack these anti-aircraft missile systems every day with HARM anti-radar missiles. But for now, this is not enough. We need more powerful weapons and an appropriate response to the enemy that terrorizes civilians,” Ihnat said.
The attack comes just two weeks before the first year of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and just hours after Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky visited the UK and France and attended the European Union summit in Brussels yesterday.
