A 17-year-old skier had to be flown by emergency doctor helicopter from the Hochzillertal ski area near Kaltenbach to the clinic in Innsbruck on Friday afternoon. The boy had crashed head-on into a snow cannon.
The accident happened just after 2 p.m. The 17-year-old from Germany was skiing on a blue run and lost control of his skis. The winter sports enthusiast went faster and faster and therefore collided with a snow lance at the edge of the slope.
Although the lance was covered with a protective mat, the boy was seriously injured by the force of the impact. After initial treatment by the piste rescue service and the emergency doctor, the patient was admitted to the Innsbruck clinic
