The Sacherl in Schlierbach in Upper Austria has been completely destroyed. Now the cause of the fire and the damage is clear. Ten fire brigades fought the flames – luckily no one was in danger.
Only one minute after the Schlierbach fire brigade was alerted at 4:41 p.m., alarm level 2 was activated. This means that another nine fire brigades have been deployed in the mandatory area. The building’s isolation makes water supply difficult, but firefighting water can be pumped from a nearby stream.
No injuries
The building burned down completely, the owner noticed the flames when he got home and raised the alarm. No one was in immediate danger or missing. But the damage is enormous, about 400,000 euros.
The garbage can had melted
The experts of the fire prevention service in Upper Austria now know what the cause of the fire was. A plastic bucket that had been too close to the burning stove had melted during the owner’s absence and caught fire.
