“Nicki” was handed over totally neglected by his owners. It was a gift and was only allowed into the living room to play with the daughter. The Maltese was not even taken for a walk – for some incomprehensible reason.
A Romanian traveled from his homeland to the Krems district with a young Maltese dog as a gift for a friend’s daughter. But the joy about the new family member there was – to put it mildly – very limited. “Nicki” usually had to live in the basement and was only allowed upstairs if the girl wanted to play with her.
“We Have No Belt”
The poor four-legged friend was not allowed to go outside. “We don’t have a leash,” was the dog owner’s incredible statement. Because the bitch constantly relieved herself in the cellar due to a lack of alternatives, the family had had enough after a month. She brought the unchipped “Nicki” to the Krems animal shelter when she was sick and neglected. “She was terrified at first and looks pathetic,” it says.
That’s in need
A young female badger was also badly hit. Hikers discovered the predator on the side of the road in the Krems district, it could hardly stand on its own two feet. A vet later diagnosed a broken hip. At a game station, the badger is making little progress: “It can move its hind legs again, but still needs to be fed,” says a nurse.
