“The future of the Landaben factory is guaranteed”

Chivite traveled to Germany where he met today with the president of Volkawagen Navarra and the group’s head of production and logistics. “I am more than happy to return from this visit, with the future of the factory guaranteed and new announcements that may come later“, has indicated, interviewed in the program “ganbara” from Radio Euskadi.

In any case, the president of the Foral government has explained that they have handed over their intention to the German firm in order to maintain employment in the “supplier park” as well. “I understand that there will be companies that will not have a place due to working with electric vehicles, but I understand that there will be new jobs,” he said.

As for the transformations to be done at the factory, Chivite remembered that in Landaben “There is a good social dialogue” and that “they have spent many years with social peace”. “The workers and workers have made a concerted effort and [la de Navarra] it is the most productive company in the Group; there have always been agreements and I hope that will continue to be the case,” he stressed.

In a government session on Wednesday, the provincial executive will approve the declaration of regional importance for the “largest investment Navarra will have in its history”.

Specifically, between 2023 and 2027, Volkswagen will invest 1,024 million euros in the Landaben plant to build a new assembly hall for electric car production and battery collection and sequencing. The ship will be 11,000 square meters in size and maintain the maximum production capacity of 400,000 cars per year.

The German multinational plans to carry out the electrification adaptation works this year and produce two models of electric cars in 2026.
