Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants to give vodka from his country to former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. “I don’t know Berlusconi personally. But maybe we should send him something. Does he like vodka? We have very good quality vodka in Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said in an interview with the Milan daily Corriere della Sera.
The Ukrainian president referred to tape recordings in which Berlusconi claimed last October that he had received 20 bottles of vodka from Russian President Vladimir Putin for his birthday. Berlusconi, leader of the ruling party Forza Italia, has been a close friend of Putin for years.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni plans to travel to Kiev in the coming days. According to the media, she could arrive in Kiev as early as Monday afternoon. Meloni, 46, who has been in office since October, had announced she would visit Ukraine before February 24, the anniversary of the outbreak of war.
“I had very good conversations with Meloni. We have received a support package from Italy and I thank her very much for her position. I’m waiting for her, I know she will come,” Zelensky said.
