Insults repeatedly erupted against the retired Frau Doctor before she was convicted of defying state authority and causing serious bodily harm by the Vienna Regional Court. For a moment she seems clear.
It arouses curiosity when a lawyer, a doctor, is accused of defying state authority and attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm. And it makes you sad to follow the same hearing that was scheduled for Monday at the Vienna Regional Court.
“Did you drink?” – “Of course”
An emaciated pensioner stumbles into the hallway, throws her scarf and coat on the floor and sinks into the dock. Judge Stefan Erdei asks what happened on December 13: “Have you been drinking?” – “Yes, of course”, was the quick reply.
According to the indictment, she started ranting in a bar, insulted the police officers called in, punched or kicked them in the leg. One of the officers came forward as a witness of “total aggressiveness”.
Bursts of emotion in the room
Which also breaks out again and again in the courtroom. “Wah!”, “You whore” and “Bye. Idiot,” is the most reserved. She says she drank “cappuccino and Jägermeister” before the trial. This isn’t the first time she’s had to answer for her outbursts of rage, but so far she’s gotten away with it with distractions.
“Why does something like this keep happening to you?” Erdei asks. For a moment the suspect seems clear. “Because I’m getting old and older and sadder and sadder,” she says, wiping her eyes.
Sentence: Eight months suspended
After the verdict – suspended for eight months, not legally binding – even Mr. Rat gets his fat in the exit: “Herr Doctor Richter. Go sh…, Oida.”
